Major Moscow's Attacks Disrupt Power In Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
The country's energy systems have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

During the night, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in blackouts in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and encountered disruption to water systems, per reports from municipal leaders.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was lost their life in a distinct assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the southern area, according to local officials.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "real steps" from partner nations to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not superficial actions but strong steps - from the United States, the EU and the major economies - in providing protection systems and implementing sanctions," he wrote in a social media post.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 projectiles targeted energy facilities, characterizing such strikes as "strategic and deliberate" and against "essential services" as the weather cools.

Energy officials said Moscow was "launching a major assault" and technical staff were striving to fix the damage.

A series of attacks damaged energy infrastructure and apartment buildings in Kyiv.

Several of the people wounded in the strikes on the capital have been hospitalized, per statements from city authorities.

Regional authorities said the city endured significant strikes during nighttime hours. A seven-year-old child died and multiple civilians were hurt.

The assaults come after nights of bombing campaigns in the region, sections of which are occupied by Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is on alert for advanced weapon attacks, which are harder to detect.

Authorities told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to destroy the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already disrupting fuel infrastructure.

Authorities confirmed technical personnel and government agencies were bracing for additional strikes.
